Cogeco | Case study

Contextualization

Last fall, Cogeco, the flagship of Quebec telecommunications, moved to 1 Place Ville-Marie in Montreal, in a space specially redesigned for the occasion and taking place on the 33rd and 34th floors of this privileged location.

The main factor behind this decision was to fill the lack of space in their offices, located then at 5 Place Ville-Marie since 2006. The new location, totalling over 65,000 square feet therefore meets the demand.

It was also in 2006 that Groupe Focus and Cogeco became business partners to standardize their workspaces. At the time, most of the existing furniture had been move and completed with new furniture. It became important to renew it all taking into account the new trends in work environments as well as the needs to be met.

Collaboration with high caliber partners

Groupe Focus worked closely with JLL and the team of design and architecture firm Aedifica to execute the furniture layout and the specification requests after a tender call period in December 2019. A challenge met in 9 months through an effective implementation started with a first phase of installation carried out in May 2020 continued over a sustained period of 8 weeks, and finalized in September of the same year

A work environment beautifully imagined by the Aedifica team, modern and bright, now accomodates more than 400 employees, who now enjoy 25 closed offices, 363 open space offices, 26 meeting rooms and 5 bistro-style areas.

Versatile products, adapted to new working environment trends

The selection of products and the optimization of a business space are key skills in which the experts of Group Focus excel. Access to a wide range of furniture, chosen above all for the design and the quality is possible for us due to our exceptional manufacturing partners

The choice of furniture has therefore been oriented so that the environment is not static and can evolve over time. For this reason, the CityLine of Teknion (low fencewas selected for open spacescombined with ajustable tables and fabric screens on the front and between stations.

The CityLine collection creates workstations, collaboration spaces and multiple configurations that are highly flexible for users.

The bistro areas are equipped with Pedrali Modus benches up to the ceiling, bistro tables from The Zones collection by Teknion and Bakhita chairs from Global.

The Hispace and Expansion Casegoods collections enhance the closed offices to embellish the spaces. As for the boardroom, it is provided with the majestic table from the Teknion series C+D, the first order of this kind for Groupe Focus in Quebec.

This project also includes a dozen Teknion Tekbooth telephone booth, fitted with Bakhita stools from Global, allowing employees to make their calls in complete confidentiality.

On the collaborative spaces side, the choice was oriented on Studio TK’s electrified Bevy tables, chosen for their functionality and versatility, as well as the Community tables by Prismatique with Beso stools from Studio TK.  The Juxta armchairs, combined with the Laptop Talk tables by Keilhauer are the perfect complement to these multifunctional layouts.

The Groupe Focus team is proud to have participated in the realization of this major project, and thanks all the partners involved for their precious collaboration and especially the Aedifica and Cogeco team for their trust.
